This group is dedicated to all Explorers who want to join the ExploGuide project to visit and share off the path semaphores and lighthouses around the world

A lighthouse is a tower (or building) designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses or, in older times, from a fire. It is used as an aid to navigation and to pilots at sea or on inland waterways.

In Greek, Sema means « sign » and Phoros means « door ».

On land, a semaphore is a communication system, invented by the Chappe brothers in France. On the sea shore, a semaphore was a watch tower destinated at alerting the continent with optival signals any ennemy attack. But later, during the 19th century, Semaphores were mainly used to communicate with ships.
