Bulgaria

Bulgaria is still one of the most enigmatic countries of Eastern Europe: some call it "the last terra incognita in Europe".

Throughout History, Bulgaria has played an important role in the region: its location is a natural bridge between East and West, North and South.

At the crossroads of different civilizations, cultures and languages, the country has been occupied for 5 centuries by the Turks. Bulgaria is a cocktail of mountains, pine forests, green and fertile plains, rivers, lakes and hidden valleys which nestle villages and monasteries.

But it is undoubtedly for its archaeological heritage that is worth visiting Bulgaria. A melting pot of several civilizations, the country is dotted with relics and ruins that testify to its former grandeur. Almost every city has its own museum filled with Thracian, Hellenic and Roman tresures, not counting the small Orthodox churches and monasteries.
