A singular and crazy water statue.

My experience, Explo description:

Created in 1983 by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely (her husband) at the Centre Pompidou in Beaubourg, this singular fountain is made of a set of polychrome sculptures evolving on a water body. It is an hommage to the great composer Igor Stravinsky (who was born in Russia and died in New York after a long stay in France, he was a symbol of internationalism and eclectic artists of the 20th century).

Niki de Saint Phalle was born in France in 1930 and died in San Diego (USA) in 2002. She was a French painter, sculptor and filmmaker. Niki de Saint Phalle was first actress and did not follow art education, but began painting in 1952. In 1961, she is a member of the New Realists, like Gerard Deschamps, Cesar, Mimmo Rotella, Christo and Yves Klein. She was the wife of the Swiss artist Jean Tinguely.

My personal recommendations:

The Stravinsky statue is located on a very quite square, surrounded by many restaurants and cafés. I like to make a break there.

How getting there:

On the right (South) side of Centre Pompidou, in Beaubour, Paris.
