This former railway was transformed into a very pleasant park, ideal for long walks (4.5km long!).

My experience, Explo description:

The walk starts behind the Opera Bastille, with the Viaduc des Arts. This bridge overhangs the Daumenisl avenue for more than a kilometer. That's a cool walk, with many viewpoints.

Then you enter into the Vivaldi Street part of the park, where you can find some restaurants.

The last part of the park is a bit more underground, with many tunnels. This is actually the part I prefer.

My personal recommendations:

At the very end of the park, you will reach an area which is almost completely abandoned, with some vegetable gardens. From there, you can go hover the barrier on an other abandoned railway (this part is absolutely not restored, crossing Paris in a really surrealistic atmosphere). If the police catch you there, you might be seriously fined... But worth it!

Else, you can simply exit the park and reach the closest metro (Porte Dorée) to go back to Paris city center.

How getting there:

Starting point: Metro Bastille
Retunr point: Metro Porte Dorée

A tip to eat:

On the Vivaldi street (middle part of the park).

Useful information:
Open hours:

Open: 8am (weekdays) 9pm (weekends)
Closing: from 18pm (winter) till 21h30 (summer)

Visit duration:

The walk (4.5km) is about 2 hours.

Entry fees:

Free!

Access security:

Beware, exploring the abandoned railway at the end of the Promenade Plantée is at your own risk and you might be fined!
