A nice exhibition of Prassinos' works, who fell in love with the Alpilles.

My experience, Explo description:

Mario Prassinos (1916-1985) is a non-figurative French (born Greek) painter of the Nouvelle Ecole de Paris. He spend the last years of his life in the Alpilles, painting and drawing dozens of local landscapes. He died in Avignon.

At his death, a donation of 800 of its works was made to the French state. It is now is housed in the beautiful chapel of Notre-Dame de Pitié (also called Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs). This chapel was built in the 12th and 13th centuries, and then extended in the 15-16th centuries. It housed the fraternity of White Penitents (from 1609 to 1821).

The artistic program of the museum alternates exhibitions of contemporary art and presentation of Prassinos's works.
