The ruins of a lost manor hidden in a forest.

My experience, Explo description:

This manor was constructed in the 16th century. Harry von Maydell was the last owner of the Manor. During the 18th-19th centuries, the manor house had already 2 large storeys, with a classic architecture style (you can still hardly some spurs of this style in the ruins). The building was unique in the fact that most of the 2d floor walls were covered with paintings.

After the Second World War the building was used in apartments, but was abandoned in the 1960s, as he began to severely deteriorate. The building finally collapsed in the 1970s. All was destroyed, including all the unique paintings.

Currently, the walls are still two stories high.

In the heart of the 1970s, the Manor was filmed in the events of the movie "Jõulud Vigalas" (Christmas Vigala).

Actually, the ruins are not really impressive. The manor is a really bad shape. Anyway, you can have a nice walk around in the park and try to look for the other dependencies buildings remains.

You can see pics of the manors when it was in a good shape in the old time at the entrance of the forest: see the explanation panels.

My personal recommendations:

Just enjoy the small and very pleasant lake!

How getting there:

Take the road 31 from Haapsalu to Lihula. The manor is on the right, in a forest, about 25km from Haapsalu. There is a sign at the entrance of the access track.

A tip to eat:
