« Deux grandes forces régissent l’existence : la force du renouveau et celle de la conservation. Le monde va du passé au futur, l’individu du futur au passé… c’est sa tragédie. » / Two major forces govern our life: the one of renewal and the one of conservation. The world goes from the past to the future, whereas the individuals go from the future to the past... this is the world's tragedy.

My experience, Explo description:

Futuristic unclassifiable artist and master of illusion, Victor Vasarely became internationally renown during his lifetime.

Deeply humanist, he conceived and financed in 1966 a laboratory for research, discovery and creation ... In his "Cité polychrome du bonheur" (Polychrome city of happyness), he wanted to bring art for everyone, combining art and architecture. Inaugurated 10 years later, his foundation is not a mausoleum dedicated to his works, but a center that aims to living arts, dedicated to the future and new expressions of art.

Many are those among us who know Vasarely thanks to his huge size paintings (6 to 8 meters!), with colorful geometric shapes. The 7 rooms of the foundation display 42 of his works.
