Ruins of an ancient and great capital of a Steppe Kingdom

My experience, Explo description:

Khar Balgas is the name given to the ruins of a once large metropolis that was the capital of the Uighur Kingdom across what is now the Mongolian Steppe.
The ruined citadel of Khar Balgas is on the banks of the Orkhon River. The city was founded in AD 751 as the capital of the Uighur Khaganate, which ruled Mongolia from 744 to 840. Still standing are the outer walls (with gates in the north and south), a Buddhist stupa and the ruler’s kagan (castle), in the southwest corner.

Orkhon Valley. Close to the ancient Chinggis Khaan (previously known as Ghengis Khan)capital of Kharkhorin (Kharakorum)

How getting there:

Bus or hire vehicle from Ulaanbaatar to Kharkhorin and onto Khar Balgas
