A statue in memory of the Legion Etrangere soldiers who died in the Algeria campaigns at the end of the 19th century.

My experience, Explo description:

This monument was erected in memory of fallen legionnaires fighting for France during the campaigns of south Oran (Algeria) between 1897 and 1902.

It was first established in Sidon, Algeria. When the garrison of the 2nd REI left the city (Legionnaires), the monument was repatriated to the metropolis. It was established in Bonifacio in 1963, when the Legion Etrangere settled there.

My personal recommendations:

Have a look at the very close cimetière marin (cemetery): it is one of the most beautiful in Mediterranean.

How getting there:

The monument is close to the car park.
