My experience, Explo description:

Gunung Padang site is the site of prehistoric megaliths in the Javanese cultural heritage. This site was first reported in 1914 by a Dutchman. The site is expected to most major megalithic sites in Southeast Asia that serves as a place of worship for the people who settled there in about 2000 BC.

Gunung Padang site located in Karyamukti village, Cianjur regency, West Java Province of Indonesia, 50 km south-west of the city of Cianjur or 6 kilometers from Lampegan station, facing up to northwest of Mount Gede and 885 meter above sea level. Going up to this site we have to go through around 400 steep stone stairs.

It's kind of holy place which stairs as ways to reach up. All of the area is contain of stones of massive volcanic rectangular. Those stone blocks spread and almost cover the top mount Padang area. Local people consider the place as sacred and believe the site as a result of King Siliwangi attempt to build a palace in one night

The Tea Plantation, hilly view as well as green trees around the site are the other plus point you can see around the site.

There is one block in an area there, which provided for you who to lift it up. Try it! They said if you can do it, your wish will come true. FYI, the block weight is 8 tons ;)

My personal recommendations:

Because the stairs going up to the site is steep, it's better to go when it's not raining. The hilly view around the site also another plus point if you go to this place.

How getting there:

By private vehicle or public transportation:
From Sukabumi to Cianjur: From Warungkondang to Cipadang, Cibokor, Lampegan Pal Dua, Ciwangin, Cimanggu.
From Cianjur to Sukabumi: From Sukaraja to Cireungas, Cibanteng, Rawabesar, Sukamukti and Cipanggulaan.

A tip to eat:

There is no food stalls around the site.

A tip to sleep:

No hotel or hostel.

there is no specific entrance fee but they put a box so that we can some money for the guard
