Since 1989, the 2 head eagles tend to replace the sovietic emblems in Russia. Nevertheless there are still many remnants of that time. The gigantic statue of Lenin of Moskovskaïa square is one of them.

My experience, Explo description:

It is located on Moscow avenue( - Moskovskaïa prospekt -), the longest of the city (9km long). This is the avenue leading to the airport.

Built in the southern suburbs of Saint-Petersburg in the 1950s, it is bordered of very well built buildings, very comfortable accommodation. At this time, when profits did not predominates on the rules of construction, buildings were solid and isolated. Unfortunately, you had to bear living in collective crowded apartments...

These buildings are now very "fashion" and sought after. Often, the top floor, with huge windows, hosts artist workshops.

At the rear side of the Moscow square (- Moskovskaïa ploshchad-), a building with severe looking columns housed the Soviet of Leningrad.

In the centre of the square, you can see one of the few statues of Lenin still standing up, dubbed "Lenin dancing."
