Another beatiful island in Indonesia

My experience, Explo description:

Lengkuas Island is located in Subdistrict Ijuk, District West Belitung, Province Bangka Belitung. It's adjacent to Tanjung Kelayang beach. The island is famous for its lighthouse which is still standing upright, built in 1882 by the Dutch colonial government. Until now the lighthouse is still functioning well as guiding the ship traffic that passes through or out of the island of Belitung.

This is an island with very soft with sand and granite rocks. You can swim at the beach or play in the granite rock. There are pile of rocks that look like frogs.

Lengkuas island also have beautiful underwater view. You can snorkel near this island.

My personal recommendations:

I went to this island at 6 December 2010. The weather is unpredictable. The weather was still sunny when we cross to the island from Tanjung Kelayang beach, buat heavy rain make us stay in the island until evening and cancel cross to another island. But because of that we can enter the lighthouse (the lighthouse not always open, and we are the only group that entered to the lighthouse that day).
You can rent snorkel gear if you want to snorkel at this island. Some tour agent also offer diving package.

How getting there:

Lengkuas Island can be reached from Tanjung Kelayang beach, it's around half hour with boat. The cost for rent a boat around Rp 350,000 (include guide trip).

A tip to eat:

There are no one that sell food in this island. You must order the food before you go to the island. If you go to that island with tour agent, they'll provide the food. But as we go to there without tour agent, when we want to rent a boat, they also offered the lunch. The price is depend on the menu, just bargain.

A tip to sleep:

As this island is very tiny, there is no cottage here. Don't know if anyone stay here at night. Please ask the guide the possibility to camp here at night.
