The Sultan Park today stands as a witness to diminishing glory of the sultanate’s era of Maldives.

My experience, Explo description:

Sultan Park is a public park, built on the southern side of the demolished Royal Palace grounds in the 16th century in the capital of Maldives, Male'.

The surviving building of the former Sultan’s Palace, within the park is today the old National Museum which is an Edwardian colonial –style building of three storeys.

The Royal Palace was razed to the ground except for one three storey wing. The gardens (Sultan Park) became a public park and now only the massive Iron Gate at the entrance, opposite the Islamic Centre on Medhuziyaaraiy Magu, speaks of its former glory. The Sultan's Park forms a quiet green oasis in the now bustling capital, with ponds covered by water lilies and leafy trees filled with bird song.

The park itself is mainly a considerable collection of various tropical flora. It offers a magnificent view of the landscape and is a great place to relax, while enjoying the aroma of the flowers around.

The Sultan Park offers a silent story of the unique and rich culture and history of this Island Nation, Maldives.

Sultan Park is the only garden park with a lot of space for people to express themselves in various ways, and where people can take refuge from this hectic life in Male’. A place where they can relax, experience a bit of entertainment, and improve their historical and cultural knowledge.

This magnificent garden park in Male’, will give exhibits the opportunity “to examine and understand the historical and cultural knowledge of Maldivians, is also an important stop on any tour of the capital city, Male’.

For a group of six and more, an English speaking licensed tour guide will be provided by us.
