One of the most beautiful bridges on the Neva...

My experience, Explo description:

For the two hundredth anniversary of the foundation of St. Petersburg, France offered this bridge within the framework of the franco-Russian agreement. Began in 1897, it was completed on time in 1903. It was built by the french company Batignolles, the same company who built the Alexander III bridge in Paris, offered by the Russians to France in 1907.

The bridge of the Trinity was nicknamed "the beauty of Paris" by the Russian newspapers of the time.

The bridge connects the left bank of the Neva River to Petrogradskaïa island.

With its 582 metres, it was the longest bridge of Neva till 1960 where Alexander Nevsky bridge was built.

It includes six metal arches. The central arch opens at night for the ships to pass.

It is decorated with lights in "Art Nouveau" style. It remains one of the most beautiful bridges of St.-Petersburg.

My personal recommendations:

At night, between 1am and 5am, all the bridges on the Neva river are open, allowing ships to go up the river.

This is a show not to be missed, especially during the "White Nights" in June-July.

Terminals to ship before the Hermitage offer night tours to attend the opening of the bridges. Starting 1.30am in the morning, duration 1h30; price 300 rbs weekdays, weekend 400rbs. This nocturnal "bridges opening tour" can be also done by bus (kiosks selling Gostiny Dvor and dockside Palace); it is less romantic, but it's less cold than by boat!
