Next to the Meurthe river stands an original modern church in which we absolutely must enter. Inside you will appreciate the mystery and contemplation atmosphere created by the coloured light of Baccarat stained glass and the sobriety of plain concrete walls.

Explo History and Description:

The church was built in 1957 by Nicolas Kasis. The structure is made of concrete. The internal frame is made of Oregon pine.

The steeple is 70m high.

The stained glass have 52 different colours. Their theme is the creation of the world. The 20.000 glass parts are drowned in concrete sculptures and form a 120m long and 8m high light belt around the Church. This work is the result of a team gathering sculptors (Stahly and Et. Martin) and painters (Idoux, Le Normand, Reynard and Chesnay).

Around the choir, the baptismal font are enlighted by stained glass representing the 12 Apostles.

The direction of Baccarat crystal fabric supported the production of the 4.000 pieces of coloured crystal necessary for the decoration of their own parish church.

The realization of the work requested 18 months (from1955 to 1956).
