A forest stands in the middle of the desert...

My experience, Explo description:

On over 600 hectares of Tugay (floodplain forest), you can see a large range of animals. You can visit it with a guide, or by horse.

If you want to see local animals, this is the place you need to go.

Take advantage of the visit to go to the Jampyk kala fortress (just on the north side of the park, 15km from the entrance). Jampyk kala protected Khorezm from north invaders. This fortress is quite hard to access from the main road going from Beruni to Nukus.

My personal recommendations:

Camping is permitted at particular places. Otherwise, simple huts (up to 10 people) are available. Meal is also available. Beware the mosquitoes !

How getting there:

By car. Get a taxi from Khiva or Ourgench. 20 dollars. Entrance on the east side of the reserve.

A tip to sleep:

You can stay in Nukus, or Khiva.

Useful information:
Open hours:

All day long.

Visit duration:

Up to one day.

Entry fees:

10 dollars. 2 dollars per hour if you rent a horse.
