86m under the see level... This is the lowest place of the whole USA...

My experience, Explo description:

At this place, the water is in constant evaporation... Only a little spring is left, whereas the ground is covered by salt, vestige of a former lake...

My personal recommendations:

You can have a walk on the salty ground. But beware the heat !

How getting there:

Badwater point is on the Badwater rd (Hwy 178) (from Shoshone to Furnace creek). Anyway, this road is worth to drive : the whole trip is a unique show.

A tip to eat:

No place to eat there. Closest restaurants : Furnace creek or Shoshone.

A tip to sleep:

Furnace creek, Stovepipe wells village or Beatty.
>There is a camping at Furnace creek. There is also a motel (it is quite expensive, about $270 for a night, and full most of the time, but it is really worth sleeping there, because of its unique ambiance) : Furnace Creek Inn : 760 786 2345, from may to October.
>Motel. $100 per night. 760 786 2387.
>Else, you will find more accommodations (and casinos for amateurs) at Beatty.
