A lovely little port, in the delta of the Eyre river: one of the few seaports to be located in the middle of meadows and forest...

My experience, Explo description:

Port Biganos is situated on the delta of the Eyre River, which flows to the bottom of the Arcachon basin.

This port is singular because it is surrounded by meadows and trees. Yet, you can see tides. There are also no real platform, but on the shores are lined cute little wooden huts, brightly coloured, used by fishermen.

Have a look at the "pinasses" : long and narrow boats used by oyster producers for their crops.

My personal recommendations:

Try the local caviar. At the former Cassadote mill stands a sturgeon fish farm, producing nearly one ton of caviar a year (1 km east from the Green Lake).

A tip for a bad visit...
When the wind blows from the East (rare), it bring the horrible smell of the Biganos brown paper mill !

How getting there:

The port is located 1.5km West from Biganos...
