If you want to know how is the sugar cane fabricated, or if you want to taste rhum, come to visit the Bois-Rouge sugar plant and the Savanna distillery!

My experience, Explo description:

The most rainy part of the Réunion island stands between Saint-Denis and Saint-Benoit, on the North-East coast. This coastal plain is covered by sugar cane and also vanilla fields. That is why this part of the island is called the "Vanilla country" (Le pays de la Vanille)...

There are only 2 sugar fabrics left in La Réunion.

During the sugar cane harvest period (from July to the end of September), you can visit the sugar fabric, as well as the distillery.
For the rest of the year, you can only visit the distillery.

There is a little shop where you can buy sugar made products.

My personal recommendations:

You can even visit the factory at night !
Do not hesitate to ask for a guided tour. Thus, you will visit all the plant installations, smell the nice sugar distillery odours... and taste some rhum !
Booking :

How getting there:

Take the highway from Saint André to Saint Denis. Before reaching Sainte-Suzanne, you will see the factory on the right, standing close to the see. The factory is 1km (E) from Sainte-Suzanne.
