70 hectares and more than 2000 species of plants from Venezuela and elsewhere.

My experience, Explo description:

The creation of the Caracas Botanical Garden was started in 1945 by Tobias Lasser, a Venezuelan botanist and physician who developed the work of the Swiss horticulturist August Braun and Pedro Naspet.

The garden opened its doors in 1958.

Make the Cyclo de la Vida discovery trail. The poetic explanations and comments along the way are worth a look ! ;-)

My personal recommendations:

Unfortunately, what I didn’t like in the garden is its proximity with the Autopista and its really noisy traffic... The garden is also not very big. However, it might be a nice break for those who want to rest.

How getting there:

Taxi. The Garden is at the entrance of the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Else, you have to walk to Plaza de Venezuela to get a taxi, and the walk and neighbourhood are really boring.

Beware : there are very few taxis at the exit of the garden, once you have finished the visit. I didn’t find any, and I had to walk till the Plaza de Venezuela.
