Explo History and Description:

In this area, limestone and river have formed many caves. The castle of Predjama is build on a cliff. First, people were living in the cave. In the 12 century, a castle was built. Many transformations were added during the next centuries.

The castle look bigger than it is. Half of the castle is a cave. The visit show different living rooms of the castle.

This castle is famous for a long battle between emperor Frederic III of Austria and the robber knight Erazem Predjamski in the 15 century. Frederic III killed Erazem. The castle offered a great protection, with water and underground tunnels to escape and bring back some food.

There are guided tours of the tunnel under the castle.
