This amazing site is perched on the top of a conic hill, overlooking the Amu Darya river.

My experience, Explo description:

A dahma is also called "tower of silence". This kind of places were used as funeral places for the Khorezm Zoroastrians. They let their deads on this open air places, where vultures and wild animals only laid bones after a few months. The bones were then deposited into charnel-house during ceremonies.

Take a walk to the top of the hill and have a look at the amazing view over the Amu Darya river and the desert.

My personal recommendations:

Get there when you stay in Nukus and go to visit Chilpyck at the sunset !

How getting there:

Chilpyk is about 3km from the main road.
10 dollars from Nukus (return ticket) with a taxi. 40km SE from Nukus (road to Bukhara), close to the Mangit bridge over the Amu Darya river.

A tip to sleep:

Nukus is the closest place with hotels.
