Betwen Gene and La Spezia, a national park with typical villages overlooking the sea...

My experience, Explo description:

Five or six typical villages.

  • Monterosso : port of Roman origin / the anchovies and tuna fishing / see St John the Baptist Church (1240), the oratories, the convent of the Cappuccini.
  • Vernazza : ancient Vulneria / medieval town with narrow streets tangle / see Castle Belforte, Church St. Margherita (1310), the fathers minors (16th °), the port convent.
  • Corniglia : the name of Cornelius (Roman colon) / village on a cliff 100 m / see Church Saint Pierre (1335), the Oratory of the Flagellants overlooking the sea.
  • Manarola : of Roman origin / small port and boats are pull up in the street
  • Portovenere : of Roman origin / village fortified of XII° / see Church Saint Pierre and his monastery (1250), the Castle, St Laurent Church(génoise origin 1120)

For amateurs, do not hesitate to use the park trails for very nice walking tours :

• We have purchased a subscription "iron road" for a week. Cost = 17 euros. This subscription allows you to flow between Deiva and La Spezia. Indeed, departures and arrivals of walks are realized through the stations between Deiva and Riomaggiore.
• Access to the hiking trails is not free : 20 EUR for a week.
• During each excursion, we have taken the time to visit the crossed villages between Monterosso and Portovenere... And to taste very good ice creams !
• numerous trails and walks are shown on a map : "parco nazionale delle Cinqueterre, carta sentieri del", www.parconazionale5terre.it site

Here is a walk tour we made :

Riomaggiore to Vernazza
trial n°2
Vertical drop = 500m
Duration of walking = 4h

(provided inclines are the sum of positive inclines / walking duration is the duration of effective walking out cases, visits, bar...)

An other walk tour...

Vernazza to Monterosso
trail n°8, 8b, 1 and 9
Vertical drop = 550m
Duration of walking = 4h

And an other...

Portovenere to Riomaggiore
A boat from Riomaggiore to Portovenere
After, trail n° 1 and 3a
Vertical drop = 600m
Walking time = 5h

How getting there:

With car and motorway between Gena and La Spezia.
Exit Deiva Marina.

A tip to sleep:

Stay at the hotel Clelia, outside of the national park, North (lower prices, comfortable hotel practical, typical cuisine, station nearby)
