If you want to walk in a lovely nature place and feel like hundreds of miles away from Rome, this is a place to visit, and most of all, you can get there very easily from city centre!...

My experience, Explo description:

The nucleus of the villa was constructed in 1630.

During the defence of the Roman Republic in 1849–1850, Garibaldi fortified three of the villas on the outskirts of Rome. The Villa Doria Pamphili lay near the scene of some of the fiercest hand-to-hand combat by the Porta San Pancrazio, as Garibaldi’s legions defended Rome from the French troops trying to reinstall the Pope.

Have a look at the "Casino" : the white Doria Pamphili villa and its garden.

You can also check out the Palazzino Corsini (close to the via di San Pancrazio entrance). This palace is nowadays a site for temporary art exhibitions.

Get there if you want to jog, or... to watch birds !

My personal recommendations:

Get there at the end of the day, when the sunset bring to the villa such wonderful colours !

How getting there:

The Via di San Pancrazio entrance is on the east part of the park.

183 Via Aurelia Antica, Rome, 00164
Get to the villa from Vatican is about 2km (S) through the nice Janiculo park walk, overlooking the Tibre river.
2km (E) from the Tiberinna island.
