Erawan waterfalls is a very popular place in Thailand: 7 blue lagoon waterfalls deep into the jungle. The place is really crowded, but you can manage to be there alone...

My experience, Explo description:

Erawan waterfalls are regarded as one of the most beautiful waterfall in Thailand. As a consequence, the place is really crowded, mostly with Thai families, coming there for pic nics, and the ambiance is really friendly.

You can walk to each of the 7 levels fairly easily on the paths. Getting to the very top is a bit more difficult (a bit of a scramble up the cliff) but is really worth the effort.

You can swim in some of the pools created by the falls.

Around the park are also several caves where you can explore and see some weird and wonderful limestone formations, stalactites and stalagmites !

My personal recommendations:

The waterfalls close at 4pm when some guards go down the trail to tell tourists to leave. But if you want to take pictures (with no one on !) or you do not really hurry to leave, they might let you alone. Then you can enjoy the waterfalls, only for you !!

How getting there:

Buses leave Kanchanaburi on a regular basis for the waterfalls, but as you will need the whole day there, you will need to catch the early morning bus (currently 8am). And the return bus (around 4pm) will also be very crowded.

By car : is the best way to get there if you want to stay a bit later at the waterfalls...

A tip to eat:

Take a pic nic (but in order to protect nature, picning is not allowed on the upper steps of the waterfalls). Else, there is a food court in the village at the entrance of the park.
