Explo History and Description:

Wide axially planned squares, huge corridors and big rooms, marble : the Museum of Roman Civilization was constructed for the Esposizione Universale Roma (1942) in a directly inspired Roman style.

The 59 sections of the museum illustrate the history of Roman civilization, from the origins to the 4th century, with models and reproductions, as well as original material.

Have a look at the huge Rome model (240m2 !!). The model was begun in 1935 and completed in 1971.

Check out also the impressive complete sequence of casts of the spiral reliefs round Trajan’s Column, arranged in horizontal rows at ground level.
