A short visit in a very beautiful wooded area, to remember the traces of Francesco Baracca.

Explo History and Description:

Major Francesco Baracca is considered as the ace of Italian WW1 pilots.

In June 1918, the Solstice battle took place on the hills of Montello. On 19 June, in the afternoon, while he was on a low-altitude bombing mission to support the Italian infantry, Major Francesco Baracca was severely hit by the Austrian anti-aircraft defence and his plane crashed.

A funeral monument stands at this location, on the southern slopes of the Montellon hill.
