A curious horse ramp, interesting to see, from an architectural point of view.

My experience, Explo description:

The City hall is the political heart of the town since more than 500 years old and the government of the Republic and Cantons of Geneva.

The Baudet tower is the most ancient element of the building. It shelters the room of the Council of State.

This tower is equiped with a paved horse ramp. It was created in 16th century. It allowed to reach the 3 floor building, without having to go down from horse or from carrier chair.

Have a look too at the Treille bench : it stands very near and it is supposed to be the world’s longest wooden bench :

My personal recommendations:

Have a look at the Ancient Arsenal, which stands just in front of the City Hall entrance.
It was built at the beginning of the 17th century and was originally a wheat loft, before being transformed into arms store. The function of arsenal persisted until 1877. Nowadays, it hosts the archives of State.
Have a look at its curious mosaics, signed by Alexandre Cingria (1949).

How getting there:

The city hall stands 100m west from the Cathedral.

A tip to eat:

Many restaurants are located on the Bourg de Four square. (200m east following the rue de l’Hotel de Ville street).
