A very impressive and well conserved fortress.

Explo History and Description:

Guldursun kala means : citadel of the eagles.
This big city had a prosperity peak at the end of the late Antique.
This citadel played an important strategic role at the middle ages, as it was situated at the Khiva Khanat (kingdom) frontier with nomadic territories.

The old murals have been renovated at the end of the 14th with a huge amount of bricks and clay, supported by semi circular towers.

You can still see remains of the earlier antique fortification along the inner wall.

My experience and personal tips:

Have a drink or a night at Yurt camp laying down the Ayaz kala fortress : ayazkala [at] newmail [dot] ru, or 8 361 532 43 61, 8 361 585 19 98.
This is the only hotel in the neighbourhood !

How getting there:

The fortress is close to the road going to Boston.
