Beautiful white stone building, with many shady courtyards orned with dicreet fountains.

My experience, Explo description:

The churh was built in 1608, it has, according to legends, the highest bell-tower of the city. Rebuilt in the early 18th century in a very simple baroque style, it ceased being a church in 1841, when the Spanish state wanted to santion the religious orders, which were too powerful at the time. It was transformed during the Castro era in music hall and museum.

Remembering the Franciscan monks, go hunting and seeking for the scattered bronze statues representing Franciscan monks in various places of the building: they are discrete and artistic witnesses of the past times.

Museum: in the crypt, you will find a small archaeological museum (entrance $2 = 2 CUC, from 9am to 18pm). It also has religious paintings, silver objects, sculptures and ceramics.

Go to a concert: excellent accoustics. In general between 17pm and 18pm.

My personal recommendations:

Climb to the top of the belltower. It is the highest of the city, I already told you that! Superb view over the city.

How getting there:

The church is on the Southern side of the famous Plaza de San Francisco de Asis.

A tip to eat:

No place to eat in the church and museum.

A tip to sleep:
