Labrador park is located at the western entrance of Keppel Harbour . This is a hill, covered with tropical rainforest and important WW2 vestiges. Many families come here at week ends for picnics and barbecues.

Explo History and Description: 

The Labrador battery was part of Pasir Panjang fort, covering the western entrance of Keppel Harbour from a sea attack. As soon as the beginning of the 20th century, the British started to build a strong point at this place. Hence, when the Japanese attacked Singpore, the battery was equipped with two 6 Inch guns.

An history trail goes through the park, punctuated by many history storyboards, driving you deep into the battle for Pasir Panjang… By 13th of February 1942, the Japanese reached Pasir Pajang Ridge (present Kent Ridge Park). The men of the 1st Battalion, Malay Regiment, fought bravely to the last, causing many casualties to the Japanese army. The guns from Labrador were used to support the Malay Regiment in their 48-hour struggle by firing high explosive shells. Finally, the Malay Regiment were finally surrounded and massacred. Only 3 survivors managed to escape.

It has long been speculated that tunnels are located under the park and the bunkers. The tunnels were lost and have been found again very shortly. If you can, try to visit them, but they are usually not open to public !...

Walk along the history trail and have a look at the remaining 6 Inch gun.

How getting there: 

Services 10, 30, 51, 143 and 176. Alight along Pasir Panjang Road and proceed on foot via Labrador Villa Road. Parks 408 : a direct service between HarbourFront Bus Interchange/MRT Station and Labrador Park (Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm). The service departs from the interchange every 30 minutes.
