An old dam, with a nice lake for swimming and sport, as well as trekking around.

My experience, Explo description:

Located 4 km upstream from Semur en Auxois town, Le Pont dam's main aim is to cope with floodings of the Armançon river, which was a scourge for its inhabitants during the past centuries.

The dam consists of a flattened dome supported by eight buttresses.

During floods, the spillway can evacuate nearly 174 cubic meters per second. The 5 stepped evacuation channel form a huge and beautiful waterfall that is admired by visitors.

My personal recommendations:

I did make a little walk in the forest on the eastern side of the lake. It is very pleasant.

How getting there:

The lac is located close to Pont et Massène. It is about 2km south from Semur en Auxois, and 5mn by car from the highway A6 (E15-60).

A tip to eat:

For nice cooking, you can go to the very close Hotel du Lac restaurant. Else, there is a cheaper restaurant (same street, opposite side of the Rue du Lac).

A tip to sleep:

Hotel du Lac for a room. Or go to the camping if you have a tent, close to the dam parking.
