Highly recommended if you like navy history and want to know about the very rich Spain naval history.

My experience, Explo description:

The Naval Museum was founded on September 28, 1792, by don Antonio de Valdés and Fernandez Bazán, Secretary of Marina of the king Carlos IV. Nowadays, the museum is located at the Spanish Navy Headquarters’ building.

The collections of the Museum are very diverse, so you can see models of arsenal from the 18th century Spanish Navy, as well as paintings, figureheads, decorations and numismatics, weapons and charts. Each room details a different era in history. You will start with the 15th century and pass through key events such as the discovery of America, the battle of Lepanto (1571), the battle of Trafalgar (1805), the Spanish-American War (1898), the Spanish Civil War at sea (1936-1939) until you reach the present day.

The models are probably the most representative collection of the Museum. They will show you the History of the Spanish Navy and therefore the evolution of navigation and of naval construction. Indeed, since 1853, a royal order established the obligation to send to the Naval Museum a model of any ship who was constructed for the Navy !...
