Huge sand dunes which may give illusion of being lost in the Sahara desert. Only 5 minutes away from the most famous seaside resort of Gran Canaria...

My experience, Explo description:

Maspalomas can be regarded as a caricature of some forms of tourism : it focuses on hotels and more or less luxurious residences, as well as on amusement parks. People also come to Maspalomas for night life : gay friendly clubs, night clubs, sex-shops make the reputation of the station.

Rest the interest of its magnificent dunes (classified National Park in 1994). They extend over 400 hectares. The central part is a non-accessible to the public (nature reserve). On the other hand, you can walk on the trails (in accordance with the rules of protection panels).

The dunes are also a famous meeting point for night owls. Exhibitionists are also commonplace and it is difficult to see them. But it is also a very popular place of the naturism amateurs.

My personal recommendations:

You will just need to walk a few hundred meters into the dunes to feel lost in a totally different atmosphere. And if it is not enough, you can even mount on a camel (at the Camel Safari Park)...
