MBodiene is a little village situated on the "petite cote" coast. It is reputable for its Laguna, where you can observe wildlife, staying in a little inn overlooking the ocean...

My experience, Explo description:

MBodiene’s population is mainly composed by Serere people. Most of the 3000 inhabitants are peasants, who crop sorghum.

Have a look at the church, which vitrals are made with funny bottle glass !

Walk into the village and to the ocean (1km, W)

The laguna is the main attraction of the village. Unfortunately, due to demographic expansion, a big part of the laguna is surrounded by houses. Still, if you go up to the north, it is getting wilder and you can observe animals. A track goes along the laguna north to pointe Sarène (4km). To the south, you can walk along the beach to Joal (5km).

My personal recommendations:

Many guest houses stand on the laguna banks. Stay in a little guest house overlooking the sea. Do not hesitate to go 1 or 2 km north of the village along the laguna to be in a wilder place. Ambiance is guaranteed !

How getting there:

MBodiene is 20km south from MBour, and 105km (S) from Dakar (3h drive) driving along the coastal road.
