Imposing medieval fortress of the 13th century, on the right bank of the Garonne, 28 km south east of Bordeaux.

My experience, Explo description:

The castle was built up by Bernard Escoussan at the end of the 13th century.

The domain of Langoiran used to be one of the most prestigious and powerful elements in the duchy of Aquitaine. It was involved in the fights between the kings of France and the kings of England during the 100 Years War.

Unfortunately the Langoiran Castle was destroyed in a rebellion in 1650, during the "Fronde" period. After that, it fell into ruin for centuries...

In the 19yh, Leo Drouyn began to restore it.

It was classified as an "historic monument" and bought in 1972 by Mr and Mrs Bibonne, trying to make it relive.

Go round the imposing ruins of the outer wall with its massive tower.

Superb view over the valley of the Garonne river.

In the interior, the owners have installed a cottage and rooms.

The castle is used as a forum for entertainment and medieval folk performances.

My personal recommendations:

Sleep in the castle !

A tip to sleep:

Gite (cottage), B&B and "guest room"...

Whether it is for one night, for a weekend or a week ... You can enjoy living in the castle thanks to the hotel facilities. 2 towers and their panoramic views over the Garonne river are awaiting you in our stately fortress ...
