One of my best souvenir in Trinidad. A wonderful and quiet palace.

My experience, Explo description:

This museum is the memories place of Trinidad. The palace interior has been decorated by local and Italian artists.

This wonderful palace is located close to the plaza mayor. It was first the property of the Borrell family (from 1827 to 1830). But the nit became the property of a German planter called Kanter (or Cantero). That’s why it is now called casa Cantero. The story says that Kanter took control of huge plantations and sugar cane fields by poisoning an old slave trader. Then he married his wife, who died also prematurely.

The former palace Cantero gathers the historical development of the city through the weapons, furniture, art and documents. The museum is not so bad.

I did much more appreciate the visit of the different rooms of the palace and their splendid decorations!

I did also like to climb up to the top of the 3 storey tower overlooking the city.

My personal recommendations:

Go there early in the morning, before the mass of tourists.

How getting there:

Calle Simon Bolivar n°423

A tip to eat:

No food in the museum!

A tip to sleep:

In Trinidad. Many Casas Particulares!
