The site 3 is much smaller than the site one, but it is located in a very nice place, surrounded by rice paddies. To get there, you will need to walk and cross a little bridge.

My experience, Explo description:

There are just 100 jars on this site, which is little compared to the 250 jars of the site 1.

On the way to the site 3, not really far, you can make a stop to have a look at a destroyed Russian tank, and visit the Site n°2, which is also not really impressive.

My personal recommendations:

Ask your guide if you can go further into the forest. He will say it is dangerous because of UXOs, but there are other jars and vestiges to see there...

How getting there:

Phomsavan is about 10h by bus from Vientiane. If you have a car, or a motorbike, visiting the site is easy, except if it is raining because the tracks will be moody. Else, ask for a day guided tour in a travel agency in Phomsavan : they can organize a trip to the sites 1, 2, 3 and to Muang Khoun and other interesting places to visit in the area. Such a tour cost total (guide+ gas+ mini van) $80.

By car : from Phonsavan, take the tarry road going South to Muang Khoun. This road goes on the South-Eastern side fo the airport. Drive about 11km. Then, you will reach a cross road (with 2 little ponds) : follow the signs on the right to Plain of Jars sites n°2 and n°3. Stay on the track (going South). About 12km further, you will see on your left signs to go to site n°2 : drive 4km more and you will see signs to site 3 when you arrive in Ban Xiengoy (Ban Sieng Di).

There is a little restaurant at the ticket office.

A tip to sleep:

Sleep in Phomsavan (where there are many guest houses).
