A strange open air place where you can observe stars...

My experience, Explo description:

The idea to build an outdoor garden to observe the stars is from Prof.Dr.Oswald Thomas (Viennese astronomer, 1882-1963).

He also founded in 1924 the astronomy club of Austria.

When he died, his star garden plans were reviewed and an area was found on the side of the Georgenberg, close to the Wotruba church, with suitable visibility conditions.

In tribute to his merits, the Vienna Planetarium was appointed after him.

The Star garden is on the top of the hill. Once you are there, you can go around in the Wiener Wald (big forest overlooking Vienna) for a little walk.

My personal recommendations:

Once you are there, have a look at the very close Wotruba church. Its architecture is really worth to see !

How getting there:

Park your car at the Wotruba church (Ryser Gasse, Wien Mauer) : follow the trail (300m, SW).

A tip to eat:

No place to eat there. There are a few little restaurants in the forest (1km to go). You can access there only by feet. To localize them, check out the numerous placards in the forest, with maps.
