Teich bird reserve is a protected nature reserve, managed to attract wild birds so they can be seen from close by the public .

My experience, Explo description:

The reserve has been opened to public since 1972. The land on which the reserve has been created were reclaimed from the sea during the 18th century, in order to create a form of fish farming : « fish tanks ».

During the 60s, this activity collapsed and the owners exchanged their properties for forest plots .

120 hectares of forest, bush , meadows, salt marsh and water...

260 species have been registered here, 80 of which breed in the reserve.

4 miles of walking trails and 20 roofed viewing points allow you, whatever the weather is, to observe very closely a large numbers of wild birds without disturbing them.

3 paths of different length, for everyone :

  • The goose path : circuit of 2.5 miles long, with 17 observations points : it is the most complete one.
  • The stork path : 1.25 mile long, is dedicated for families with small children.
  • The robin path : 400 metres long, is specially dedicated for children, in a funny and educational way.

Around the park, you can practice other activities, like kayaking on the delta of the Eyre river.
Hiking : 13 miles of marked trails.

My personal recommendations:

Don’t forget your binocular and cameras !!
Caution with tides : most birds are visible at high tide. At low tide, birds fly out of the reserve !!!!
