Tiffoultoute is a kasbah perched on the top of a hill overlooking a nice palm grove and an amazing view over the Ouarzazate oued.

My experience, Explo description:

The most ancient parts of this kasbah are about 250 years old.
It has been for long ruled by a cheikh who was a rival of the Ouarzazate caïd and thus brought the region in a permanent state of war for many years.
Later, the place became the residency of a Glaoui kahlifat.
You can still observe vestiges of that palace, on the top of the Kasbah. There, from a panoramic terrace, you can have an amazing view over the Atlas.

Ouarzazate is nowadays famous for its cinema industry. Many films have been realized there in the "Studio Atlas" : Lawrence of Arabia, The Jewel of the Nile, Gladiator...
Thus, you can visit the studio, which stand very close from Tiffoultoute kasbah (2km, N, on the Marrakech road (N9-N10)).
There is a guided tour every 30mn (from 8.30am to 12.30pm and from 14.15pm to 18.00pm). Telephone : 024 88 21 66 or www.atlastudio.com. The visit is about 50DH (5 euros per person).

My personal recommendations:

The best to visit the Kasbah is to get a local guide (about 1 euro for 15 minutes). And if you are nice, you can also get a mint tea !

How getting there:

You can access to the Tiffoultoute kasbah by car.
It is about 8 km (W) from Ouarzazate (N9 - N10 going to Marrakech). At the cross road with the Zagora road (P31E), please go south and follow the road for about 2.5km.

A tip to sleep:

You can easily sleep at Ouarzazate where you can find miscellaneous accommodations and prices.
