About 5km northeast from Thiene, on the first mountain hills, Lonedo Lugo di Vicenza vilage has 2 very nice villas. The most interesting (by its rich interior decoration) is the Villa Godi-Malinverni.

Explo History and Description:

The villa Godi - Malinverni was the first realization of Palladio in 1542. It was built by Gerolamo Godi for his son Antonio, as indicated just above of the entry of the loggia .

During the WW1, the villa was occupied by the British command.

"Senso", the film of Luchino Visconti (1954) was shot in the magnificent rooms of the villa.

The villa is richly decorated with frescoes.

In his four books about architecture, Palladio mentions the names of the artists who have worked within the villa : Gualtiero Padovano (Padova, 1510 to approximately 1552), Battista Del Moro (Verona, 1514-1575) Battista Zelotti (Verona, Mantova 1526, 1578).
