Wallpapers museum, Rixheim , Mulhouse

Jean Zuber installed in 1797 wallpaper factory in an old Commandery of the Teutonic Order building in Rixheim, near Mulhouse.

During the 19th century, the company acquired an international dimension, both in product quality, especially with the creation of some 30 "landscapes" or with technical means : all new inventions of the sector were made in Rixheim.

The collections from the Zuber company (100,000 items, from the beginning of the 19th century to 1983) were completed with thousands of wallpapers acquired since 1983. They give a complete overview of the history of wallpaper since the "dominos" of the 18th c. to the present creations from everywhere all around the world.
